Dear Friends in Christ

The new Christian friend I wrote about earlier that was suffering the persecution is now a free man. He has signed out from his position and is now classified as retired. He will still get his pension from the government so that is a good thing. He found some money from friends and we sent him everything we had at the time, it was enough to pay off the government loan to keep him out of jail. He had actually tried to quit his job a year or more ago but they would not let him retire because he was too valuable. Then after accepting Christ and witnessing about it they told him he must go. Before they let him go they had to be sure he was not brainwashed by Phimpha into Christianity. They sent 5 investigators to him one at a time and then 2 psychiatrists. They concluded he is in his right mind, he has not been brainwashed but he is totally convinced about his life in Christ, so they said he is free to go. A lot of persecution for a new believer but he stood strong and now he has more time to witness for Christ.

The Land. Because we used what we had for our friend to stand by him we did not make the payment this week as we were supposed to. Phimpha went out to meet them late last night and gave them the few thousands of baht that she had. They said per the agreement we have until the 25th of December to pay off the balance of what we owe. They also said if we fail to pay it off on the 25th they will resell the land and not give us anything back from the monies we have paid to them because there is nothing in the agreement that says they must reimburse us. We would lose everything. They said they believe the Christians will come together and help us to honor our agreement with them. As of today we owe them a little over $28,000.00 USD. That is 935,000 baht. We have only my truck that is free and clear to be able to use as collateral. We tried to loan against it yesterday but the loan company would not accept the two cosigners we brought to them so they would not do the deal. The loan company is willing to give us 150,000 baht for it. Not near enough but it will help, so we will continue to look for someone else to cosign.

satan has been working overtime trying to stop this restoration project. We are standing by God’s word and moving forward in any way possible. We have faith that it will all workout in the end and we ask you to continue to pray with us. Having faith that the funds will come in some way or somehow, when the land is paid off and in our name we will take the title to the bank and secure a loan to pay off the many different private loans we currently have. Then we will wait and pray to see what God wants us to do next. We hope to begin to build on the property but that is up to God so we will wait and pray at that point. As I wrote before and will ask now again, is anyone willing to give us a temporary loan so we can pay off the owner, receive the title, then secure a loan with the land as collateral? Once we have that we would be able to return the temporary loan to you and whatever fees or interest would be associated with that. The timeframe on the temporary loan would be less than 3 months. I don’t foresee any problems at this point that it would take longer to return the funds to you. Now is the Christmas season back home in America. Everyone is out buying gifts for Christmas and traveling for the holidays. The giving is usually down this time of year and it seems rather strange that Christmas day is the time for the final payment for us. We have never been able to raise $28,000.00 USD in such a short time in my 12 years here as a missionary. So this is a huge stretch of our faith. We have no choice but to step forward not knowing if there is a secure footing there or not. Please search your hearts and help us with whatever you can send. This is not for material things of the world, this is for God’s kingdom and the whole purpose of our lives and why we are doing this is to bring others to Christ. If I may be so bold as to suggest maybe a little less for gifts this season and a little more for God’s kingdom.

I am from Minnesota. A place where the summers are very short and the winters very long and cold. Except for 5 years of service in the Air Force I lived there, raised my family there and then I told God a simple statement. My wife had left me and I let God know that I was available for whatever He wanted me to do. To make a long story short He took my promise and by a couple of miracles He intervened in my life and now I live in a foreign country where the weather is hot, very very hot. He sent a beautiful Christian woman to me one early morning 12 years ago and a short time later had us marry. I knew that when I said: “I do.” My life would never be the same again and it sure has not been. Now together we live every day for Christ. We awake in the morning till late at night we do our best to follow His will. I have learned to let go of the world. So much so, that it becomes harder and harder to relate to those that are so wrapped up in the world. We have been blessed to be able to do the work of God and work to save the lost. In my opinion, nothing in this world is more important than saving souls. Our salvation is secure in Christ. Because it is and we follow what Jesus said, we need to help all others to receive what we have. Eternity must be a long time and we need to do all we can. We must be willing to sacrifice till it hurts us, to help others. Our lives are not our own, if we believe they are then we are not following the teachings of the word of God. Phimpha and I are blessed to be able to live everyday for Christ. For me it is satisfying but certainly not easy. I have had to give up everything to live this life here for a people that are not my people yet we are all children of God. I miss my family in Minnesota my grandchildren that are growing up so fast without me. I live with the pain of not being close enough to be able to help out my own children. To support them the way a Daddy and Grandfather should. But I offered my life to Him and answered the call and will stay here till God tells me otherwise.

I am ashamed to ask more of you. I have taken out a personal loan and have promised that I would use my only income to pay it back. I owe over $13,000.00 and it will take me many months to pay it back with my social security which is $1270.00 a month. I have promised that I would use my check for that and I must honor my word. I am hoping to return to Minnesota In January to visit my ageing parents. If anyone would like to help me with a ticket back to MN I would appreciate it greatly. It comes at a hard time with all else that is going on here but time is short and I am trying hard to go before it is too late. Everything we get has been going out for the land and the other poor we support. If I cannot go so be it, I leave it in God’s hands.

Update to the Update to the Update

Hello Again

I had the information wrong for the payment next week. Seems it
is the end of the time for the 3rd payment and we need to pay it in
full. $9,000.00 USD. A small amount for some but an impossibility for
us without your help.
If that payment is made we will just have the last one of about

$21,000.00 USD. Another impossibility without your help.
We Thank God for those who have been answering to our needs. God
knows and credits YOU.

Our daughter Amy is doing much better. She sent me some pictures
yesterday of herself and food that they brought her. They took her IV
out and the feeding tube out of her nose and she was very happy to be
able to eat after 2 days, a long time for a teenager with out food.
She has been getting a lot of friends from school visiting her. She
will talk to someone tomorrow about why she decided to do this.

Update to the Update

To our Brothers and Sisters in Christ

In my last update I told you we needed $2,000.00 USD by the morning and Thank God we got that in on time. Then she made a new agreement with the land owner to pay them 100,000 baht a week ($3,000.00 USD). We actually had this week’s payment. Next week we are still praying for, and the week after that etc. Thank you for all the prayers and keep them coming till we can secure this land to begin the project that God has showed us. We are down to less than $30,000.00 USD now. Some of our Christian Brother and Sisters are really stepping out doing what they can to make this happen. We are so grateful they have answered to the burden of their heart. Any amount is a great help.
The rest of the ministry is not stopping. We have many people still calling for help and we help all we can anyway we can. The hardest for our hearts is when they call needing help and we try but cannot find anything or anyone to give. We give all we have many times with nothing left for ourselves but the difference is we have Faith in our God, many do not.
Most of you I would think remember about all the trouble we had with the Social Department when they took our children away by force. Well last week the court date for Phimpha finally came up. She spent 2 days in court answering their questions and listening to the charge against us that they used to come and take the children by force. The charge was running a Children’s home without their required paperwork. But the real reason is because we are Christian. The next court date is the end of this month. Pray for justice to be upheld and pray for those that are persecuting us. They are in a lot more trouble than we are. They do not know our God.
I started this update a couple of days ago. It is now 4:30 am and I just returned from the hospital checking up on our daughter Amy. I don’t know what it was all about but last night she decided to overdose on whatever medicine she could find. I ran her to the hospital and they will keep her for a few days to make sure her liver and kidneys continue to work. I think it was more for attention than suicide. satan is attacking us very hard lately. That is a good thing because it confirms we are making a lot of trouble for him. Jesus said we would be persecuted and we defiantly get our share.
I am planning to return to America in the next few weeks. I need to spend some time with my parents and also for some training I need, to continue the path that God is calling me to. I will explain about the training later on after I have checked into it more. I could certainly use some help with the tickets. This land has tapped us out and we are deep in debt.
Sorry this update is a lot of wants and needs. It has been a real struggle for Phimpha and I to keep Faith. We will stand strong and never stop. We will stand strong. We will stand strong. When all else fails STAND.

As most of you know we are working on securing land here in Thailand to build a restoration center. We would like to be out from under the payments to the owner. We are looking for anyone who would be willing to take a small risk to help us. When we started to inquire about the land the owner wanted 3.5 million baht ($106,000 USD). Because we are not looking to run it as a business but as a place to help the poor in the area he accepted our offer of 3 million baht ($90,880). We made an agreement of four payments of 750,000 baht ($22,720 USD) every 2 months. As soon as we had a signed contract we hired a contractor to dig a large pond on the far end of the property and use the dirt to raise the level of the site because it was a rice field. A rice field here is always lower ground so it can be easily flooded to grow rice. We paid the contractor 650,000 ($19,690 USD) baht for the completed work. We have made the first two payments on the land and also paid off the contractor in full. We are working on the 3rd payment now and are struggling to get it paid. With the added value of the dirt excavation by the contractor and the reduced price initially by the owner, the land is valued at over 4 million baht ($121,000 USD) and there are buyers waiting to purchase it if we default on the agreement. We owe approximately 1.25 million baht ($37,900 USD) So we have an asset of 2.75 million baht ($83,000 USD) which is more than enough to secure a loan for the property.
So the question is would anyone with $38,000. USD be willing to lend it to us so we can pay off the land, get the deed and secure a loan, which we will use to repay what was lent to u,s plus any fees or interest required. She has already inquired about it from the loan company and because the amount owed is so small they are willing to do the deal without any cosigners.
We had plans yesterday to sell my old truck to make the payment for today, but after prayer she decided against selling it to a non Christian. She wanted to keep it in the family of God. It is in very good shape for the years and kilometers on it. She is hoping to be able to give it away to a Christian in need.
We also had someone yesterday offer to pay off the land for us but they wanted the land to be in their wife’s name. We plan to build a large complex on the site pursuant to what God is telling her to do. It is not the point of it being in our name or not. The point is we have no problem in walking away from it empty handed and leaving it for other Christians to operate. We just don’t care about material things on the world. They are just a tool to be used to bring the lost to salvation. If God tells us to give it to another and walk away we have no problem with that at all. There is nothing on this world that we would not give away if that is what God wants us to do. Nothing here is important. A large complex or a large church or vehicles or whatever means nothing. No amount of material possessions are worth more than one soul. If you don’t believe that then re-examine where your heart is. The entire material world will pass away but the one soul lives on if they have salvation in Jesus Christ. And that is the whole purpose of the restoration complex that God is showing her to build. It is for the lost. It is not a kingdom here on earth.
So please keep us in prayer. We will not allow satan to stop what God is telling us to do. We need a little less than $2,000.00 USD tomorrow morning with no hope of getting it on time from anyplace. Yet we have faith and pray and go on. Private message me if you are willing to help.

From Phimpha’s Heart

Dear Brother and Sister in Christ.

Phimpha here. I am working as a missionary along the border right now. I know people who sacrifice their life to follow the Great commission of Jesus Christ (Mat. 28:19-20) must walk away from what they have if they are truly going to enter into a life of service. Before committing to the Lord, we were working in a different job for living. But when we offer our life to the one who is calling, our life belongs to the Lord and to His leading. No missionary, not even one, wants to sit and create a project just to raise support, or sit and wait for another person’s money to live on. It would be shameful to do that. I have choices but I choose to answer the Great Commandment. In the area where I am working now is along the border between Thai and Cambodia. I have started a project to build a center where broken people can come to receive healing and wholeness. This has been on my heart to do for some years now and feel that the time is right to begin. I received great favor from God as the people sold the land for a cheap price and they also agreed to take four payments as well. We are pressing into God, in faith for this money. I have a team around me praying support and encouraging me to keep on going, even as my faith is being tested! I only seek to follow the vision that God has given me. Some days that is easier than others as I know you all will understand as a child of God. I work in a border region that has seen so much ugliness, where lives have been so affected and are still being affected by all the poverty around them. There is so much despair, brokenness and loss of hope for a better life. Alcohol, drugs and trafficking, both of people and goods is rampant in this area and you can easily think there is no way to help them – but God who came to save those who are lost, to heal the broken and bring sight to the blind has a plan! I can do nothing without Him, of myself I have no wisdom or power, but again and again I have witnessed the power of God’s love turn things and people around. So I am excited as we look to the future and picture the people that are going to come through our doors and find that God has a future and a plan for their lives! I am so thankful for your support financially. We are past the time for the third payment for the land but we have not of what we need. Please patient with me. Please pray with me and offer to support the kingdom of God.

Thank you so much for your love and support.

Phimpha, your sister in Christ.

Mat 28:18 Then Jesus came up and told them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.

Mat 28:19 Therefore, as you go, disciple people in all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit,

Mat 28:20 teaching them to obey everything that I’ve commanded you. And remember, I am with you each and every day until the end of the age.”

Restoration Center

It will be a restoration center.
Some place for those down and out or burnt out from ministry to come, looking for rest or encouragement. A place for those on substance abuse looking to free themselves from it. A place for training, a place for children that don’t have a safe place to be. She is currently working with some of those children. A church / conference area. Rooms for those that come to the conference. The conference hall will seat around 2,000 people. A training center for those looking to go into ministry, more of a hands on approach along with instruction. A public park out by the main road.
All of this will take time to get built. It will be ongoing as God directs it.

The property is 11 rai which is about 4 ½ acres. It has a large pond on one end. It is currently half paid for. She is praying that we can get some help to pay it off. A friend of hers came up with the idea of getting 1,000 people to donate 1,480.00 baht which is roughly $45.00 USD. He has already given so we now need 999 more to have the burden. If you cannot give please pray and ask God to multiply those giving. If you want to repost it on your timeline or send to friends that is up to you. I know this sounds like an impossible thing to achieve but we know God is more than able to do it. Please stand with us. If you have any questions feel free to ask. I will post below a couple of ways to donate to the Restoration Center.

Phimpha Prayer Request

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ

Please pray unceasing with me and standing with me in this project. I feel like I’m in a war zone. Spiritual, physical, and mental. I still need to go forward and need to pay for the land. It passed the day but I still hope. Please pray for me don’t stop.

Luk 18:1  Jesus told his disciples a parable about their need to pray all the time and never give up.

Luk 18:2  He said, “In a city there was a judge who didn’t fear God or respect people.

Luk 18:3  In that city there was also a widow who kept coming to him and saying, ‘Grant me justice against my adversary.’

Luk 18:4  For a while the judge refused. But later he told himself, ‘I don’t fear God or respect people,

Luk 18:5  yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will grant her justice. Otherwise, she will keep coming and wear me out.'”

Luk 18:6  Then the Lord added, “Listen to what the unrighteous judge says.

Luk 18:7  Won’t God grant his chosen people justice when they cry out to him day and night? Is he slow to help them?

Luk 18:8  I tell you, he will give them justice quickly. But when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on earth?”

Not an Update but it is.

I wrote this up many days ago not knowing what to do with it. Then this morning I needed to update a little on the Project. I had no intention to combine them together. Also last night I was messaging Phimpha. And I was surprised at how what she had said fit together with what I had written, so I am sending it as one. I really hate this part of my work here. If anyone wants to come live here to write these updates for me please come.

This is just my opinion on what I see in the bible and the things that are heavy on my heart. I am not looking to judge anyone. Only God knows the heart. It has taken me years to get to where I am today and I still have a long ways to go before I would feel comfortable in saying that I am following in the footsteps of Jesus. I speak only to get this stuff out as I feel led to speak, in the hopes that it may help someone to gain salvation.

I was so blinded in my daily living when I was in America. The longer I am away and the less I have the clearer it is to see how lost I was. I thought being a good person by not hurting others, doing what I could to help people, being a good neighbor. I thought I would certainly make it into heaven. I think most people believe they will make it but what does Jesus say about it. I have read these passages many times and never realized what it said. Jesus is talking about the: Day of Judgment. He himself is seated on the throne and judging everyone.

Mat 25:31 “When the Son of Man comes in his glory and all the angels are with him, he will sit on his glorious throne.

Mat 25:32 All the nations will be assembled in front of him, and he will cull them out, one from another, like a shepherd separates sheep from goats.

Mat 25:33 He will put the sheep on his right but the goats on his left.

Mat 25:34 “Then the king will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who have been blessed by my Father! Inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world,

Mat 25:35 because I was hungry, and you gave me something to eat. I was thirsty, and you gave me something to drink. I was a stranger, and you welcomed me.

Mat 25:36 I was naked, and you clothed me. I was sick, and you took care of me. I was in prison, and you visited me.’

Mat 25:37 “Then the righteous will say to him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and give you something to eat, or thirsty and give you something to drink?

Mat 25:38 When did we see you as a stranger and welcome you, or see you naked and clothe you?

Mat 25:39 When did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?’

Mat 25:40 The king will answer them, ‘I tell you with certainty, since you did it for one of the least important of these brothers of mine, you did it for me.’

Mat 25:41 “Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Get away from me, you who are accursed, into the eternal fire that has been prepared for the devil and his angels!

Mat 25:42 Here’s why: I was hungry, and you gave me nothing to eat. I was thirsty, and you gave me nothing to drink.

Mat 25:43 I was a stranger, and you didn’t welcome me. I was naked, and you didn’t clothe me. I was sick and in prison, and you didn’t visit me.’

Mat 25:44 “Then they will reply, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or as a stranger or naked or sick or in prison and didn’t help you?’

Mat 25:45 Then he will say to them, ‘I tell you with certainty, since you didn’t do it for one of the least important of these, you didn’t do it for me.’

Mat 25:46 These people will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous will go into eternal life.”

If we follow what he said and love our neighbor as ourselves we will naturally be following the commandments because they are founded on Loving your neighbor. Who are our neighbors? They are other humans, all humans. Not just the ones living next door. Not just the ones in our own country, all people. God created us all and loves us all and wants all of us to be with Him but not many will be. He said a few will find the narrow road. Just before this He was talking in parables but not now. He is speaking of judgment. He Himself is sitting on the throne to judge. All nations of the earth are before him. All that ever lived. He separates the sea of people. Then how does He judge them? By their wiliness to help others! Love your neighbor as yourself. Wow! Why would He use this illustration? Is it accurate in itself? If Jesus said it, I believe it will be the most important thing to be judged by. Why? Because all of the other commandments of God are based on loving your neighbor as yourself. Think about it. In order to really carry that out we would want all people to have what we have. We would have to be willing to let go of our wants. Our needs are food, clothing, shelter, the basic things to live. The “wants” are comforts. The wants we believe we need to be happy, we believe we deserve. Why did God bless King Solomon with wealth and all the desires of his heart? Maybe as a bad example? I don’t know but in the end king Solomon himself said it was all nothing but chasing the wind. It did not bring him satisfaction. Happiness for a time but not satisfaction for his life. I have been here 11 years now. I don’t have much in the way of wants. The longer away from the wants the more you realize they are worthless. Yes they would bring me some happiness for a time but the gilt is not worth it in the long run. There are just too many that have true needs that must be met. Don’t get me wrong I fail too. I need to weigh everything I want to spend money or time on. Is it just for me? Is it selfish or do I need it to survive? Do I need to take time off or travel great distances to see my family or is it being selfish? Hard decisions. I can easily justify my desires.

Will we be on the left or the right had of Jesus on judgment day? If we do what Jesus said and take care of the least important we will be with Him on the right. Yes there are a thousand excuses we can come up with to not follow. Are they truly in need or why don’t they get a job and work, are they are just lazy and they waste what we give and what we give does not end up in the hands of the needy. On and on and on we can go. But Jesus didn’t say anything about excuses. So is our salvation pinned to these verses? If we have said the sinners prayer and accept Jesus into our hearts isn’t that enough as John 3: 16 says? I don’t know. But I know when I accepted Jesus into my heart I began to change. Things that were ok in my life became not OK. I could not justify it by my ignorance any longer. It caused me to look at myself. Or do we avoid looking; hoping we don’t see and then we won’t be accountable?

Mat 19:21 Jesus told him, “If you want to be perfect, go and sell what you own and give the money to the destitute, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come back and follow me.”

Sounds pretty harsh but Jesus told the rich man this after he had said he followed all the commandments his whole life.

Mat 19:20 The young man told him, “I have kept all of these. What do I still lack?”

Jesus knows the heart. Just looking good on the outside will not suffice.

If someone told you that you had a choice. Loose one of your hands or loose every material thing you own in this world? I don’t think anyone would be willing to have their hand cut off to save their house or car. Yet Jesus said if it causes you to sin cut it off. Mat 5:30 And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away from you. It is better for you to lose one of your body parts than to have your whole body go into hell.”

What are we willing to give up to be sure of eternity. It is not about money and stuff it is about the heart. Do we care more about our wants than those in need?

Short update.

I had a few minutes to speak with my wife “in person” yesterday and I pried a little more information out of her on the Project she is working on. She calls it a restoration center but it will be more than that.

She is looking at a large conference hall because it is almost impossible to find one in the area. They are in high demand.

There will be large classrooms available for public as well as for us to use. She has many burdens. She wants to help those looking to go into ministry. More of a hands on approach than book knowledge.

There will be rooms for some children from families that the parents are in jail for one reason or another. She is already working with those children in the communities. Some have a place to live some are not in a good place to live.

There will be those who are looking to break away from the drug scene. A place of safety away from that lifestyle.

A large house type of setting for Missionaries to come and rest up and regroup.

Also a few smaller houses like a hotel room for those coming for a short time or for conferences.

A public park out by the main road.

All of this will take time to get built. It will be ongoing as God directs it.

The next payment on the land is the 2nd of September. Roughly $23,000.00

We have no money on hand for that right now. Prayers for it are appreciated.

I did not get permission from her to say what we talked about last night. By messenger. So I will probably be in hot water for this. She is not one to speak of herself. I was asking her about fasting. My heart was surprised at her feelings toward her work.

I knew she had been fasting every day because of the heavy burdens she has with the work there and the project. Eating only once a day. I asked her if she was still doing that?

She said : “I do. It’s why I lose weight”

Then she went on.

She said: “I even don’t want to eat when the needy call me asking for help.”

She said: “I give all what I have even for my own food.”

That my friends, is Loving Your Neighbor as Yourself.

God Bless

Is the substance of things hoped for. It is totally believing that you will receive what you are hoping for. It is not hope. It is the assurance you will receive it beyond all doubt. You know it will happen. That is why we only need a small amount of Faith to move a mountain, because we are certain it will move. We don’t just know God is able to do what we ask for, we are certain He will do it.
Looking at it from a worldly standpoint it is crazy. Who would buy land, start to work on it and plan to build a large complex without any funds to start the project? Someone who has Faith! If you know God is telling you to buy it you must sign the papers to buy. If He is telling you to start working on it before it is paid for then start. If He is telling you to wait, you wait, but He said start.
God told us to start this project. We live by following His word so we started on Faith alone. God is providing for the project through those who have the burden to expand His kingdom here on earth. The purpose of that is to save souls from final damnation.
This is what He has done so far.
The price of the land is 3,000,000 Baht ($90,000.00 ) We have paid 780,000 Baht so far so the balance is 2,220,000 Baht ($66,640.00)
The price for the contractor to move the dirt was 560,000 Baht ($17,000.00) we paid 360,000 Baht, we owe them 200,000 Baht ($6,000.00)
The land was originally rice field and needed to be raised up so it does not flood every time it rains. It is much cheaper to dig a hole and use our own dirt to cover the land than to buy dirt. So now we have a large pond on the far end of the property. The land is roughly 4 acres in size so it was a lot of dirt to move. They raised the level of the “filled land” about 40 inches.
We also bought cement culverts to put under the access to the property. They were 54,000 Baht ($1,600.00). They had to be large because the water runs to other properties all around the area.
We will continue to push forward by Faith. Many of you reading this disagree with what we are doing. If God was telling you to move forward and you knew it was from God I pray you would move. We know what it is to be persecuted for our faith. We ask you to join with us in prayer. Not for just us and this project, but to pray for the lost. It is why we live. Our life is not our own we belong to God and without God and salvation we are lost. With God and salvation eternity awaits us.
